365 days later

365 days later, I’ve made it to my first Life anniversary. So, here’s a totally self-indulgent, self-analytical rumination one year on.

1. A fully-fledged environmentalist. Yeah we must recycle, yeah we must halt global warming but I never really appreciated the working environment until I came to Life. What makes Life so different? The freedom to be my irreverent, quirky (and a little bit dirty) self. The freedom to truly think outside the box and look at problems from different angles. As Jim Morrison said – the best freedom is being yourself.

2. Work mates. Number 1 (the working environment) is intrinsically linked to this one. My work colleagues. They are an awesome bunch. Funny, creative and inspirational. They’ve transcended the colleague tag to become my mates. Hand on heart, every day we have a laugh. We also love getting down to the serious business of developing creative campaigns that change beliefs.

3. Work husband. Special mention has to go to my new (I guess following ABPI rules anything over a year isn’t deemed new) work partner. We were from the opposite sides of the tracks; Jase is an EDM fan and I’m a more staid indie pop kinda girl but it just works. Together, we’re ready for any brief!

4. The llamas. About 4 minutes walk from the office, depending on one’s leg length and stride, there is a field of llamas. They are a pretty quarrelsome lot. I tried to give one a piece of banana once but that was a big mistake if the spitting that ensued was any indication. Llamas next to the office. Totally bizarre, unexpected and whimsical just like the kind of advertising I love.

5. The bright lights of TV. Hands down, one of the best things that I have worked on in the past year was my first TV campaign. The whole process from concept to day of filming was fantastic. It was with such pride that Jase and my TV ad was sandwiched between Judge Rinder and Tipping Point.

6. Hit the road. Indeed I have. Tally over 52 weeks includes; one collision, 37 curb mounts and 1 flat tyre. Yes, my work life balance may have improved but not my driving.

7. The future’s bright. With another TV campaign underway, the next 365 days should prove as fun and creative as the last.
